1 Year Check Up

by Steven on Feb.04, 2008, under Growth Chart, Jack

This is a back dated post so I can catch up on my blogging!..

Today, Jack had his 1 year check up.  We met with Dr. Fowler for the first time since we changed from Dr. Cisco.  She is a really friendly doctor and Jack seems to like her too!  he couldn’t hold himself back, but wanted to walk all over the examining room without any clothes on.  It was really funny to see.  Jack was well behaved when Dr. Fowler  listened to his heart & lungs, checked out the ears, and examined his body.  Dr. Fowler gave Jack the thumbs up and said that he is doing excellent!  On our next visit (18 mo), she wants Jack to be pointing and saying 6 words.  She also said that we should start Jack on Whole milk either cold turkey or eased in.  Yipee!!!  No more Similac…well almost!  We are going to do a gradual approach.  Jack will receive three shots today and another 3 in a month. For the record, I have included Jack’s measurements below

Age: 12 months

Weight: 23.9        50 – 75%

Height:  31 1/2    90 – 95%

Head: 48              90%

Thanks for your patience waiting for me to document this.  I will be posting again soon.

Jack’s Dr Visit – 8/8/2007

by Steven on Aug.08, 2007, under Growth Chart, Jack

Well, I know I know…it’s been a long time since I have posted anything about Jack. Sorry folks, but it has been very busy trying to keep Jack on his schedule and making sure that we are all fed. And then, we have to watch Big Brother After Dark to get the scoop on what’s going on in the Big Brother house.!!! So, a lot has happened since the last Dr’s visit so I will try to go into as much details as possible. Amy has gone back to work as most of you know, and I stayed home for teh entire month of June and a little bit of July.  I had a great time taking care of “Boogey” (our little pet name) He and I went to Los Gatos, the park, the mall, Starbucks, and the grocery store quite a bit. Everybody stopped me as I strolled around. So now that I have gone back to work where is Jack and who is watching him?  Well, Amy came up with this great idea to share a nanny with another couple who has a baby girl (Reese) who is about two months younger than Jack. Amy felt that the kids would get the benefit of playing with each other, they get the attention they need, and the cost of the services are split in half so it’s not as expensive. We went through the strenuous interview process and found a nanny that we feel very comfortable with and that Jack just loves to be with! Her name is Yvette. She does a very good job at taking care of the children. Her previous assignment was taking care of twins, so we felt comfortable that she can handle two children at a time. So one week the children are at our house, and the next week they are at Reese’s house. It’s a little bit challenging since we have to make sure that all of the necessary items get to the other house. I admit, I have forgotten a couple things at times, but I have now made a packing list to ensure everything is there. Yvette improvises when I forget things. So recently, we had Jack’s cousin Sophia Rose visit from Arizona!!  We were so glad that Tracy and Greg brought Sophia to the bay area!  We had such a great time and the kids got along great!! Jack just couldn’t keep his hands off his cousin. He was so interested in her and her hair!! It was so cute. Having Tracy and Greg stay at our house was perfect since we had a lot of the gear that they needed so they didn’t have to carry everything from their house! We are looking forward to spending more time with Tracy, Greg and Sophia as we are trying to arrange going down there to visit them this time. We will see if everything works out and if we can get down there. Ok so how is Jack?  Well, Jack is growing, and growing, and growing!!  His gums have been bothering him quite a bit, so he has off nights that he wakes up. Otherwise, he pretty much sleeps through the night. He is able to keep himself in the sit position and can push himself in a 360. I think he is very close to getting on his knees to get ready to crawl. If we hold his knees, he can get up on his knees and hold himself there. Really cool…Jack is eating his first and second level baby foods now. A little fruit with Oatmeal, and some veggies as well. His Dr’s visit went well. I have included his stats below so you can keep official track.

 Age: 6 1/2 months

Weight: 19 lbs 3 oz – 75% range

Height: 29 inches – 97% range

Head Circumference: 45 1/2 centimeters – 90% range

So Dr. Cisco let us know that he is opening his own private practice, which is a bummer since I don’t think our insurance will cover it. So Amy and I are going to have to look for a new Dr for Jack. It shouldn’t be too bad as there are a lot of really good Dr’s in the area. We just have to find them!

Ok, my hands are soar from all of this typing. I think I have caught you up to speed on what’s going on. I will try to do a better job at Blogging. I feel there is more to report on since Jack is more interactive and has the potential of doing amazing things!! Signing off for now and have a great weekend.

Jack also received some shots today which he didn’t like, but got through it ok. Poor guy.

The weigh in

by Steven on Mar.12, 2007, under Growth Chart, Jack

Well, today we weighed Jack and he is now 10lbs 5oz.  This boy is growing like a weed! He will be a big boy. So Jack is being a little fussy at night which is keeping us up a bit more. Otherwise, he is healthy and happy. He is using his neck muscles more and more and is focusing his eyes on things more. He knows mommy that’s for sure. So speaking about mommy, she is doing well. Tired, but well. She is getting out more and more now days which is a good thing. Amy took Jack to a baby shower on Friday and all of the ladies there just loved him! I can see why they would!

So my cousin Tracy and her husband Greg had their baby!!!  CONGRATULATIONS! Sophia Rose Norris born March 7 @ 5:17 pm 6lbs 13oz and 18.5 in long. We are so happy for you guys.

Signing off for now and will update as stuff happens.

Grow baby grow

by Steven on Feb.26, 2007, under Growth Chart, Jack

Well, not much to report on the home front. Amy & I weighed Jack this weekend and he was 9 lbs 6 oz.  Wow! He is growing so fast. Jack likes to be a little fussy at night recently, maybe that’s when he is growing! But we are managing to sleep when we can. Mom is doing a fantastic job with Jack. He get’s his bath every other day and is liking it more and more. I wish I could stay home and be here for this. I know this is short, but I need to get to sleep while Jack is still asleep. Thanks for your patience, I am still pretty new to this blog stuff and don’t know what to write, but I’ll try to get the important stuff posted. However, I am constantly trying to upload new pics for you as often as possible so you can see how he changes.  It is so amazing how he has changed from day one to today. Cheers.

February 16 2007 – Dr’s visit

by Steven on Feb.16, 2007, under Growth Chart

Jack’s appointment went well today. Dr Cisco said that he looks really good. We can now put Jack on his belly so he can practice lifting his head up. On all three categories, Jack is about 50% in the chart. Dr Cisco also mentioned that we can start introducing a bottle (which we already do to supplement.) He did recommend giving Jack 1/2 ml of Trivisol which is a vitamin supplement.

Age: 2 Weeks

Height: 20 3/4

Weight: 8lbs 6ou

Head Circumference: 37 1/2
